Theme: Tackling the Multidimensional Vices Ravaging the Nigerian Youth.
Venue: Merit House Maitama, Abuja.
Date:
22nd May, 2024.
On May 22, 2024, we hosted a significant event titled "Tackling the Multidimensional Vices Ravaging the Nigerian Youth" to combat human trafficking and sexual abuse. The highlight of the event was the launch of the powerful and poignant book, "Stolen Dream - A Nigerian Girl's Journey through Sex Trafficking," authored by our founder, Amb. Mariam Ashley Yusuf. The book chronicles the harrowing experiences and ultimate resilience of a young Nigerian girl ensnared in the web of sex trafficking.
Additionally, we organized a road show to raise public awareness about the devastating impact of human trafficking and sexual abuse. This initiative aimed to educate the community and empower the youth to stand against these pervasive vices, fostering a safer and more informed society.
The event was graced by the first daughter of the president, Dr. Mrs Folashade Mujidat Tinubu-Ojo as the mother of the day, and Her Excellency, Amb. Mrs Alanyingi Sylva (former first lady, Bayelsa State and the Founder, Centre for Gender Values & Culture) as the key note speaker, Mrs Kehinde Akomolafe, (Director Public Enlightenment NAPTIP, representing the DG NAPTIP) and other crucial stakeholders.
MAY Foundation is taking the narratives of human trafficking, drug and sexual abuse beyond the frontiers. The vision is to reduce and ultimately eliminate these social vices so that we can have a sanitized society in which everyone especially the girl-child can have a voice of her own.
It has always been the dream of our founder to positively impact her generation while setting landmarks and laying a solid foundation for the young ones to build on.
